Taking care of a new born is no child’s play. In fact, it may drive many up against the wall. There are so many things that you need to be all set and geared with when preparing for a baby. But there are some things that you just can’t do without.

A brilliant crib is 1 of the most significant things you can get for your baby. After all, you want your youngster to get a sound and calm nap and a suitable crib is the way to ensure it. Remember to select a high quality one that’s both- smooth and comfortable for your small one. A good quality crib is even more essential simply because newborns are likely to sleep night and day.

Bottle set is an additional must have when looking after your small bundle of fun. Having a bottle set is vital even if you’re breastfeeding the little one. It is fairly possible that you may not be able to breast feed the little one specifically when you are out at public places. It is where the baby bottle comes in convenient. Additionally you can make use of the baby bottle to water feed your kid too.

Another critical thing which you can’t do without is baby sling. Baby slings provide the benefit of simple carriage of the baby. Using a baby sling helps in carrying your baby. So, you need not worry about going anywhere with your baby. This baby sling has attachments that could be tied or wrapped around mother’s body. Though you have the alternative of baby carriers, nothing works better than baby slings. With baby slings you need not worry about the safety of the baby at all as the baby is close to your body all the time. Moreover, baby carriers are an additional duty and moving them around is challenging at times. On the contrary, baby slings do not need to be moved around and hence they offer ease of usage.

A bottle warmer also comes in handy for newborns. While it won’t be as essential as the other items discussed, it actually assists you [take care] of your child better. The bottle warmers are small and compact and aid you heat up child bottles and food jars comfortably. So you’re saved from having to boil milk or food in special utensils and then having to transfer it to a bottle. These warmers help heat the food contents uniformly without causing any hot spots. Additionally, you’ve the choice of adjusting the temperature to suit your requirements.

Once you’ve purchased these items, you can take into account yourself to be reasonably well prepared for your baby.

To the casual observer a child who is drawing or coloring in, is merely scribbling. The marks seem to be completely ramdom and meaningless. But there is more going on in your young child’s mind as s/he engages in the physical act of drawing and coloring.

In fact, examining children’s drawing may give us important insights into how drawing fits into the overall physical, emotional and cognitive development of the young child. From toddlerhood through primary school, children choose to draw and color, but the process starts much earlier – during toddlerhood.

At around the age of a year and a half toddlers become interested in scribbling. It appears to provide sensory enjoyment, but the child is also interested in the marks that are made. The act of scribbling can serve several useful purposes for the young child. Small muscle coordination and control improve with practice, cognitive abilities are exercised, opportunities for social interaction arise, and the physical movements provide emotional release.

Because a toddler’s fine muscle control is not fully developed, he may approach the coloring sheet by grasping the marker with his or her fist and may have difficulty placing the marks exactly where he or she wants them. Movements are typically large, involving the entire arm with very little finger or wrist control. This is because the pattern of physical development in children begins from the center of the trunk outward.

With practice, your child will naturally improve his or her control. Full control, however, will not be achieved until much later. A few toddlers rest the forearm on the drawing surface to give them additional control. A repetitive scrubbing motion is common among two-year-olds. This provides them with sensory enjoyment and making drawing a very physical act.

By providing children with the materials and opportunities to scribble we can promote physical skills. Just as babbling is a natural way to gain language, scribbling is the precursor to muscle control and coordination.

Intellectually toddlers are concerned with both the process and results of their art. They really do not intend to represent objects at first. Instead, they are mainly concerned with color and line. However, they may look at the marks and scribbles they have made and, in surprise, recognize a shape and name it. While they may not have intended to draw a dog or tree, the scribbles suggest the shapes. Children interpret, rather than intend. This is called fortuitous realism and becomes common as a child approaches three years of age.

As a parent you can encourage your child to draw and color by offering him or her opportunities to do so. Provide them with blank sheets of paper to let their creativity run wild or supply a coloring book or coloring sheets – many of which are available free of charge online. Little boys may enjoy coloring images of cars and trucks or of favorite characters such as Spiderman and at sites like Spiderman Coloring you’ll find Spiderman coloring as well as coloring pages, funny pics and more. For little girls search for coloring pages of princesses or fairies or anything else she may be interested in such as Disney characters or even trucks!

Remember however that toddlers need constant supervision while coloring due to the choking hazard that crayons pose.

Nothing is as important to academic achievement as the ability to read well – and it’s never too early to start. However, there is more to being a good reader than just being able to read the words accurately. Just as important, is the ability to understand what has been read. Here is a list of ways to help your small children become more effective readers.

Special time – set aside a regular time to read to or with your children every day. Research shows that reading aloud regularly with your children will produce significant gains in reading comprehension, vocabulary and the decoding of words.

Provide what they need – surround your kids with reading material whether bought or borrowed from friends or the local library. Children who have access to a large array of reading material in their homes score higher on standardized tests. Tempt your kids to read by having a large supply of appealing books and magazines at their reading level. Put the reading materials in cars, bathrooms, bedrooms, family rooms and even by the TV.

Establish a family reading period – set aside a 15 to 30 minute daily time-slot when everyone in the family reads together silently. Seeing you read will inspire your children to read. Just 15 minutes of daily practice is adequate to increase their reading fluency.

Read everywhere – make reading a fundamental part of your children’s lives. Have them read menus, road signs, game directions, weather reports, movie and television time listings, and other practical everyday information. Also, make sure they always have something to read in their spare time when they could be waiting for appointments or riding in a car.

Join the library – entice them to read more by taking them to the library every few weeks to choose new reading material.

Gain knowledge – be informed about your children’s progress. Note what reading skills they are expected to have at each grade level. The school’s curriculum will give you this information. Monitor their progress in acquiring basic reading skills on report cards and standardized tests.

Be alert – look out for reading problems. Teachers do not always detect every child’s reading problem until they have become serious. Find out if your children can sound out words, know sight words, use context to identify unknown words and clearly understand what they read.

Get help – if you feel your child has reading problems, make sure he or she receives necessary help from teachers, tutors, or learning centres as soon as you discover an issue.

Variety is the spice of life – to help your children improve their reading, use textbooks, computer programs, books-on-tape and other materials available in stores. Games are especially good choices for young readers because they let little ones have fun as they work on their skills.

Reward their efforts – praise will go a long way to encouraging your children to read, however there are many rewards that will motivate them even further and they need not cost very much at all. Consider perhaps printing a certificate for them; a quick Google search for ‘reading award’ should result in a few options that you could print and fill in with your child’s name. Stickers are great motivators too and coloring pages are very well received as well. At sites like Hello Kitty Coloring Pages you’ll find the best Hello Kitty print and color while little boys would perhaps enjoy the coloring sheets at Pokemon Coloring Pages.

Be interested – show enthusiasm for your children’s reading. Your feedback has a great effect on how hard they will try to become good readers. Be sure to give them genuine praise for their effort.

Reading can expand children’s thinking. Words and books can excite them. Stories can inspire them to create their own works. When you help your child to become a good reader, you are doing many things: you are enriching is creativity, his knowledge and his academic future too.

Baby slings have been in vogue for ages all over the world. This is a piece of cloth that is used to tie the baby to the body of the one who takes care of the baby. The ring sling is a modification with a cloth sewn to two rings, usually made of aluminum. The head and the arm of the wearer are put through the loop of the cloth. A pocket is formed between the rings where the child is seated. Ring slings can be used to carry an infants as well as toddlers. The pouch slings are similar but without the rings. It is simply a cloth forming a pouch which is sewn into shape. The size of the pouch is adjusted with the use of clips, rings, snaps, buckles, and zippers. The seat for the child is created when the pouch is slipped over the head and shoulder.

Wrap, wraparound slings or wraparound are long fabric that wraps the baby with the wearer securely when tied. The baby or the toddler is comfortably seated on the back, front or the hip according to the convenience of the wearer. Wraps are of two kinds. There is the stretchy and the woven. Jersey or interlock knits are used in the stretchy wrap. The baby can be easily carried in this making it more popular. The woven wrap makes use of woven natural fabric. A number of materials can be used such as wool, linen, silk and hemp though cotton is the most used. They are also attractive in their patterns and colors. A simpler form of wrap is the cloth used to tie the baby to the wearer with the cloth knotted at one end together making a slinging wrap. Almost all cultures have some form of wraps. The Chinese use a cloth almost square shaped with parallel unpadded straps from the corners and they call them mei tai. The Korean podaegi is almost the same except that the fabric is larger and rectangular in shape with a longer strap. Other variations are the parka or amauti of the Inuits, the Japanese onbuhimo, the Chinese bei beis and Hmong carriers.

Stroller is yet another popular baby carrier and is in the form of seat on wheels. There are many models and designs in which they come. There are the Chicco Trevi Strollers, Inglesina Strollers, Graco Strollers, Maclaren Strollers, Kolcraft Strollers, Schwinn Strollers, Rock Star baby strollers and Stokke Strollers. If you want to get further details, for instance, of Chicco Trevi Stroller then you should check the Chicco Trevi Stroller reviews.

Whether the simple baby slings or the strollers, these are part of baby care. They enable the carer to carry or take the baby, keep an eye on the baby and take care at work or travel.

The voices that infants utter are called baby talk, twaddling or babbling. These sounds are attempts of the babies to learn how to acquire the language. They are not in a position to as yet utter words that can be recognized. In the first year the larynx descends which allows the pharynx to develop for the sounds that will soon become words. Baby talk begins when the infant is 5 to 7 months old. They begin by making noise. It is only when the baby is one year old that recognizable words are produced. Syllables begin to be repeated. This is called reduplicative babbling. The variegated babbling is when a mix of syllables is used by the baby to babble. It is when the babies are calm that they babble more rather than when they are excited or upset. Babies prepare themselves by babbling for uttering the basic sounds that they will require for speaking the language. Babbling is natural to humans and this is clear when even the deaf babies babble.

Gurgling and cooing begins at birth up to 4 months. Babbling starts when the baby is 4 to 6 months old. Babbling is enjoyed by the baby up to 12 months or so. Between 12-18 months babbling turns to being meaningful when the toddlers begins to imitate sounds and words. The toddlers begin to repeat words at the age of 18 to 24 months. That is when babbling takes on to becoming meaningful words. They are able to use about 50 words. But they understand many more. They then begin to form short sentences. They may use familiar words incorrectly. The baby begins with crying and begins to coo moving on to vocal play. This is followed by canonical babbling and then on to conversational babbling.

Sign language is also used by babies as a means for effective communication. Babies can be taught sign language to assist them to avoid being frustrated when they are not able to find the right sound to express themselves. Priscilla Dunstan proclaimed that babies everywhere is found to use a set of five words and that each have a specific meaning. She released The Dunstan Baby Language DVD in 2006 which sets out to teach the method to recognize these sounds.

Babbling of babies, when responded to with babbling by adults is beneficial to the development of babies. Integrating this with some normal adult speech will assist the baby in the development of vocabulary. It assists in the cognitive development of the baby. Eventually the baby will achieve the ability to normally speak the local language no mater what.

Baby carrier is an on-the-body carrier to carry an infant or a small child. There are many kinds of baby carriers such as the backpack carrier, soft front or hip carrier and slings. Different materials are used to make them. Older children are carried in frame backpack carriers, hip carriers, slings, mei tais and many other kinds of soft carriers.

The idea of the cradleboard originated from the Native American baby carrier that mothers carried with them for their babies while traveling as well as working. Back straps are attached to the head or shoulder on which are mounted the cradle. Travois or a saddle is used to hang the cradle when traveling. Cushioning effect in the cradleboard is provided by moss, shredded bark or lichens. Flexible twigs such as willow and hazel is used to weave the cradle. Flat pieces of wood too can be used instead. The cradle has a flat surface. The child though is secured tightly to the cradleboard can freely move its head.

Perambulators or prams have been in use for a long time. They were used in the United Kingdom since the Victorian era. Its modern version is called carrycot and comes with a detachable body. Prams have almost gone out of use these days. Instead there is the modern baby carrier that can be bought from the market which is both cheaper and smaller. The more comfortable and cheaper stroller is preferred.

Stroller is used to carry kids up to the age of three. It is also called buggies. Strollers that can carry two kids are also available. The kids are secured one behind the other or side by side. With the increase in the births of triplets, triple strollers too are now available. Strollers actually resemble a seat or chair on wheels. The baby is secured in the stroller with the use of harness which holds the baby from falling off. Strollers come in different models and designs. These include the Kolcraft Contours Options Tandem Stroller, Stoke Xplory stroller, Chicco C4 Trevi Stroller and Inglesina Trip Stroller. For instance, more details on Kolcraft Contours Strollers can be gleaned from Kolcraft Contours Options Tandem Stroller reviews .

The most important thing to check whether the stroller is wobbling or tipping. Ensure that there are no sharp edges anywhere that can hurt the baby. Plastic covering of the screws prevents the baby from fingering the screws.

To the casual observer a child who is drawing or coloring in, is just scribbling. The marks seem to be haphazard, almost meaningless. But there is much more happening in your young child’s mind as s/he engages in the physical act of drawing and coloring.

In fact, examining children’s drawing may give us important insights into how drawing fits into the overall physical, emotional and cognitive development of the young child. From toddlerhood through primary school, children choose to draw and color, but the process starts much earlier – during toddlerhood.

At around the age of 18 months, toddlers become interested in scribbling.

Because a toddler’s small muscle control is not fully developed, he or she may approach the coloring sheet by grasping the marker with his or her fist and may have difficulty placing the marks exactly where he or she wants them. Movements are typically large, involving the whole arm with very little finger or wrist control. This is because the pattern of physical development proceeds from the center of the trunk outward.

With practice, the toddler will naturally improve his or her control, full control, however, will not be achieved until much later. A few toddlers rest the forearm on the drawing surface to give them additional control. A repetitive scrubbing motion is common among two-year-olds. This provides them with sensory enjoyment and making drawing a very physical act.

By providing children with the materials and opportunities to scribble a parent can promote physical skills. Just as babbling is a natural way to gain language, scribbling is the precursor to muscle control and coordination.

Intellectually toddlers are concerned with both the process and results of their art. They do not intend to represent objects at first. Instead, they are concerned with color and line. However, they may actually look at the scribbles they have made and, in surprise, recognize a shape and name it.

Let them loose on blank sheets of paper or provide them with a coloring book or coloring sheets, many of which are available online. Little boys may enjoy coloring images of cars and trucks or of favorite characters such as Pokemon and at sites like Pokemon Coloring Pages you’ll find the best Pokemon to color in

Little girls on the other hand tend to prefer images of fairies and princesses and these too are plentiful online.

Remember that toddlers need constant supervision while coloring due to the choking hazard that crayons pose.

The history of baby carriages is long beginning in Europe. It is only in recent times the baby carriages have become immensely popular as a mode of transport for infants and small children. These days people have to travel a lot. Often they have to take the children along with them. Baby carriages are also called by such names as carry cot or pram or perambulator. These baby carriages are actually bucket shaped. They are fitted with wheels so that they can be pushed as you walk. There are also other kinds of baby carriages such as baby slings, backpack carriers, soft front carriers and hip carriers. The difference is that you will have to carry these baby carriages with you while the former is pushed in front of you.

Baby carriages are made from different materials. They are available in different designs and vary in its comforts, support and rigidity. A stroller is a carriage to transport infants or small children up to the age of three or four. A stroller is often called also as a buggy or push chair. The children face forward away from the pusher in strollers while a pram usually has the infant facing the pusher so that the child can constantly be within the full eye sight of the pusher. Strollers are normally designed for carrying one child. But there are strollers that carry two and also three children. It is also designed to accommodate children with small age gap. Strollers to accommodate three children are a recent addition.

The strollers can be easily pushed around with ease. They have free wheels which make them easy to turn them around and that too within a small space. The Maclaren Quest reviews offer a model with storage basket underneath which can be used to store goodies such as snacks and drinks. Safety features provided in the stroller include rain cover, hood and shoulder strap. It has an adjustable 5 point safety harness. The seat can be adjusted into 4 inclining positions.

There are a variety of models in the market to choose from according to your needs. They vary in its weight and other features. Strollers are also bought online which is easier.

Accidents happen unexpectedly and are not deliberate. Traffic collision is a category of accident that can cause injury, death and damage to property. Deaths due to traffic collision, for instance in the United States with some of the most technological advances and safety measures is 40,000 annually. Though the safety requirements are increasing and accident rates are generally decreasing, the number of injured and deaths have been increasing. This is due to more traffic, rising population and more travelers.

Safety devices and systems are of two types – the active and the passive safety devices and systems. The active safety devices and systems are those that require the occupant of the vehicle to act such as fastening seat belt. The passive safety devices and systems are those that operate on its own such as air bags on sudden jerks or collision.

Children are more vulnerable to accidents amongst all travelers. Being lighter and smaller than adults, they are more prone to being thrown off or dislodged on impact from collision or sudden jerks. Active seat belts as well as air bags are definitely useful. But special safety measures are required to be adopted for children according to their age, height and weight. Such safety measures are required to be adopted as per regulations in some countries. Child seat and child safety locks are part of such measures. Power window lockouts are useful to prevent the children from interfering with the windows and doors.

There are specially designed seat for infants. These infant safety seats are secured to the automobile seat. When there are sudden jerks or collisions, the infant seat belt holds the child firmly. These are now a part of the safety regulations prescribed in some countries. There are different models of infant seat belts on sales in the market. Britax Frontier Seat has advanced shock-absorption and cushioning. These are also easy to set up.

United Nations Economic Commission for Europe has come out with its ‘Regulation R44-04’ as the recommended international safety standard for baby and child seats. The International Organization for Standardization has also introduced safety standards for car seats in 1990 called ISOFIX. LACTH is the United States equivalent of this standard. Baby seats that comply with ISOFIX standards are introduced in some automobiles.

While some parents have the belief that feeding toddlers a vegetarian diet is detrimental to their health, as long as they make certain that all the required nutrients are received, it’s really quite healthy. A few of the benefits to an ongoing, balanced vegetarian diet consist of a lower risk of heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes and obesity. If you raise your toddler on this type of diet, he or she will embrace it willingly later on.

The primary concern with vegetarian toddler food is to make sure that your child gets enough calories and nutrients. Toddlers need enough calories to ensure that they have energy to grow properly and put in a hard day’s play.

It can be difficult to plan a balanced vegetarian toddler menu that will give them sufficient amounts of iron and protein. Given that toddlers already have such a small appetite, it can be tricky to get them to eat enough vegetables or beans so they get all of their nutrients. Therefore, if you are raising a vegetarian toddler, make sure you serve up food that is packed with as many nutrients as possible.

For adults and children over the age of four, soybeans and tofu are great sources of protein. For toddlers, however, they shouldn’t be used as the main source of protein. For your littlest ones, complement the tofu or soybeans that you serve with soymilk that has been fortified with vitamins and minerals. In addition to providing some protein, it will also improve your toddler’s diet by providing calcium and vitamins A and D, which can frequently be hard to get in a vegan diet.

You will find iron in many vegetarian-friendly foods. Kidney beans, lima beans, green beans, and spinach are all first-rate sources of iron. However, iron from vegetables can be harder for the body to absorb than iron from animal products. You can remedy this situation if you serve a Vitamin C rich food with those beans or spinach. Some great sources of Vitamin C are oranges, red peppers, tomatoes, broccoli and cantaloupe.

Getting sufficient amounts of Vitamin B-12 may be especially hard for vegans. While vegetables contain some B-12 vitamins, the body does not easily absorb them. Your toddler’s healthcare provider can help find a B-12 supplement appropriate for a toddler.

A diet that does not take calcium into consideration can also be detrimental to your toddler’s health. Calcium helps make bones stronger and aids in proper growth and development. Opt for soymilk that is fortified with calcium, but be sure it also contains other nutrients important to your toddler’s diet.

While it’s possible to raise a healthy vegetarian toddler, it can take a lot of work. It might be a good idea to add a vitamin supplement to your toddler’s diet to ensure that they get all the nutrients they need.
